Ruth G. Spencer, 80, of Caro, died, Monday evening, January 3, 2011 at Covenant Healthcare-Cooper Campus. She was born on August 12, 1930, daughter of the late George and Evelyn (DeForest) Whitmore in Howard City and at the age of 9 or 10, she was adopted by the Hetherington Family. She married Donald E. Spencer on February 11, 1950 in Caro. He predeceased her on September 15, 1997.
Ruth was a talented artist and had created numerous oil paintings. She learned and mastered playing pool at the age of 78, enjoyed the nature and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Surviving are her children, Donald S. Spencer of Harrison, Steven E. Spencer of Evart, Laurie A. Spencer of Caro, Terry (Connie) Spencer of Fairgrove; grandchildren, Aaron (Cristen) Spencer, Troy Spencer, Kaylee Schember, Trisha Oleniacz-Terry, Tracy Oleniacz; great grandchildren, Bennett Terry, Grady Terry, and Saffron Spencer; sisters, Mary (Keith) Crisler of Holt, Judith Harmsen of Hulbert; special friend, Richard Putnam of Caro and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, one son, Nicholas A. Spencer and several brothers and sisters predeceased her.

~FUNERAL~
Funeral and committal services will take place at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 7, 2011 from the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 9940 Saginaw Street, Reese. Pastor Dan Gonder of Fairgrove United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will take place in Gilford Township Cemetery.
