Jimmie Ray Hendren, 59-year-old rural Vinita resident passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2011.
Jimmie was born on August 7, 1952 to Jay (Blue) Hendren Jr., and Juanita Jewell (Durham) Hendren in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.
Jimmie was a Native American of the Cherokee Nation, and after graduating from Colcord High School, he earned a Bachelors Degree in Animal Science from Oklahoma State University. He worked as a cattle buyer for himself and others. He was engaged in farming and raising cattle.
Jimmie always had a story to tell, and he loved livestock, spending time with his family and friends. He married J. Doran Walker Johnson of Vinita in 1984 in Miami. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include: his wife, Doran of the home; his mother, Juanita Hendren of Wyandotte; brother, Don Hendren and wife Karen of Stillwater, Oklahoma; sister, Kay McNeal and husband Norman of Mt. Vernon, Missouri; step-son, David Paul Johnson of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Kaycee Johnson and Olivia Faye Johnson, both of Sand Springs; niece, Heather Swearingen; nephews Chad Palmer and Jalen Hendren.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in Jimmies name be sent to Burckhalter Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, November 29, 2011, at Trinity Baptist Church.
Burial will follow at Sunset Gardens in Colcord, Oklahoma.
