Rev. Clifford Gene Hickman was born to Rev. Jason and Addie Hickman on November 23, 1941 in Tullahassee, Oklahoma.
He attended Carter G. Woodson and other Oklahoma schools including Tyler Barber College. He furthered his education by attending several business colleges in California.
Clifford accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age and was baptized by his father at First Baptist Church, Tullahassee, Oklahoma.
In 1962, he moved to Los Angeles, California and united with True Friendship Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. J.D. Phillips.
In 1963, he met Jennifer Louise Peterson, who he took unto himself as his wife on March 16, 1968. By June 1969, their duaghter, Felecia Lynn was born and in December 1975 a son was added to the family circle, Derick Durand.
Clifford worked for the Beauty Wave Product Company for 25 years and for Lockheed California Company for 19 years. He answered the clal to the ministry on October 7, 1984 and was licensed on October 21 of that year by Rev. J. W. Wright, his pastor.
Rev. Hickman departed this life on Sunday, July 12, 1987, leaving behind the cares and pain of this world.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Jennifer; his mother, Mrs. Addie Hickman; daughter Felecia and son, Derick; his brothers, Fentress of Washington, D.C., Jim of Oklahoma, Wallace of California, John of San Jose, Earnest of Lansing, Michigan, Walter of Flint, Michigan and Searcy Johnson of Denver, Colorado; his sisters, Adlee Green of Oklahoma City, Margaret Harrison of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Pearl O'Neal of Stockton, California, and many relatives and friends.
Clifford's funeral was held on Saturday, July 18, 1987 - 10:00 AM at True Friendship Baptist Church, Inglewood, California.
