Frank Daniel Parrish

Frank D. Parrish, age 72, of Vinita, died Friday, Aug. 19, 1994, at Craig General Hospital in Vinita after a brief illness (colon cancer). He was born Dec. 15, 1921, at Arcadia, Kan. to Walter and Ida (Elliott) Parrish. As a young child, he moved with his parents to Craig County, where he grew up in the Fields District and attended high school at Chetopa. He served in the U.S. Army Air Forces in World War II. He married Edna Powell on May 9, 1945, in Childress, Texas. They lived in Vinita 10 years before moving to Arizona in 1958. He was a professional sign painter and worked as an industrial painter for Kennecott copper mines near Hayden, Ariz. for 17 years. A man of many talents, he was also an artist, wood carver, musician, and carpenter. After retirement, he returned to Oklahoma and built a new home southeast of Vinita. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 5 AF & AM at Vinita and Oklahoma State Fiddlers. Services were held Monday, Aug. 22, 1994, at 11:30 a.m., at Burckhalter Funeral Home Chapel in Vinita, with the Rev. Paul Jones officiating. Burial followed at the Fairview Cemetery in Vinita.
