Crimean War British Victoria Cross Medal Recipient. He served as a Sergeant Major in G Battery of the Royal Regiment of Artillery. On November 5, 1854, Russian troops launched a surprise attack on the British lines at Danube. Soon his battery was quickly surrounded and Sergeant Henry was the only British soldier left. With his sword in one arm and using the other to pull a bayonet from his leg he fought valiantly and repelled the advancing enemy. Although severely wounded, for this action he was commissioned in the field and awarded the Victoria Cross Medal. He later achieved the rank of Captain.
