Professional Hockey Player. Born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, on February, 3, 1966, Macpherson was 6'0', 195lbs, and played the position of Defenseman. He played for the Saskatoon Blades in the Western Hockey League from 1982 to 1983, 1983 to 1984, 1984 to 1985 and 1985 to 1986, Springfield Indians in the American Hockey League from 1986 to 1987, 1987 to 1988, and 1988 to 1989, and the Indianapolis Ice in the International Hockey League from 1988 to 1989. In 1984 he was selected in the 20th overall by the New York Islanders in the NHL Entry Draft. After his contract with the Islanders was up, Macpherson left to go to Dundee, Scotland, where he accepted a player-coach job. On August 9, 1989, while snowboarding on the Stubaier Glacier in the Alps, in Austria, Macpherson disappeared. In late July 2003, almost 14 years after he disappeared his frozen body was found by a snowplow operator. The Canadian Mounted Police and Austrian officials were called in and identified his body through DNA, dental records, and identification that had been found on the body. At the time of his death he was only 23 years old.
