He was born on May 2, 1950, in Salem, Ill. to Paul L. and Lois M. (Hollinshead) Albert of Alma. On May 25, 1996, he married Mary Faye Hanks in Kinmundy.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his parents; wife; one son, Jon-Paul Albert of Iuka; one step-son, Chad Mulvaney of Kinmundy; one daughter, Malinda Gaertner of Iuka; two step-daughters, Chris Hawkins of Kinmundy and Kimberly Kretzer of Colorado Springs, Co.; three brothers, David Albert of Iuka; Gary Albert of Alma; Rick Albert of Alma; two sisters, Nancy Albert of Auburn, Ill.; and Maxine Nash of Salem; two grandchildren, Abigail and Sidney Gaertner; three step-grandchildren, Joshua and Caitlyn Hawkins and Zachary Kretzer.
Preceding him in death was a sister, Patricia May Albert.
Mr. Albert was employed as an iron worker. He attended the Kinmundy Christian Church and was a member of the National Rifle Association. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home in Salem with the Rev. Ron Riley officiating. Interment followed at Martin Cemetery in Alma.
Visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 3 at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Kinmundy-Alma EMT's or Martin Cemetery.
