George Roosevelt Searfoss was the son of John Henry Searfoss and Rosanna Esther Leindecker Searfoss. He was the eldest of 14 children born to John and Rosanna. He married Nora Mae Bryfogle Searfoss on December 23, 1924 and they raised 8 children; 7 sons and one daughter. He was a long time railroader and served as the yardmaster for the Central Railroad of New Jersey in Mauch Chunk (now known as Jim Thorpe).
