Altmayer laid to rest Relatives and friends of Jay P. Altmayer gather at Spring Hill Avenue Temple Cemetery for graveside services on Monday. The well-known landholder died Friday at age 83. Altmayer donated 200 acres for the creation of Mobile College, now known as the University of Mobile, and served on the White House Fine Arts Committee and on several governing boards, including the board for Spring Hill College.
