Bennie Thomas White, Jr., 81 of Elyria went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 18, 2011 following a brief illness. Born in Demopolis, Alabama, he was a graduate of Linden High School, then coming to Elyria in 1965. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for General Motors from 1965 to 1988, retiring after 23 years of service. He was a member of Second Baptist Church of Elyria where he was member of the Male Choir, Senior Choir, Trustee Board, and he was also an active member of the Masonic Lodge Sidonia #93 of Elyria.

Mr. White is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ruby L. (nee Jones) White; two daughters, Carmita D. White and Shirley A. White both of Elyria; two sons, Bennie T. White III (Melva Jean White) of Columbus and Curtis T. White of Franklin, Ohio; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Willie J. White; and his parents, Bennie and Lessie White.

Friends may call Tuesday, November 22, 2011 in the Second Baptist Church, 427 16th St./Chapman Lane, Elyria, from 7 P.M. to 9 P.M. with a Masonic Service beginning at 8 P.M. The Home going Service will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 11 A.M. in the Second Baptist Church where Rev. Dr. Carl P. Small, Pastor will officiate the services. Burial will follow at Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria.
