John made his home in Amherst since 1956. John's life was a series of careers and adventures that inspired his family to pursue excellence in their own lives. He joined the Merchant Marine's at age 15, and then transitioned to the United States Navy during WWII, serving in the Pacific Theater. During his tour of duty with the Navy, he was a participant in the testing of the atomic bombs on Bikini Atoll. John's military career continued during the Korean Conflict with service in the United States Air Force. After his military service, John traveled the country working at numerous jobs until settling in Amherst in 1956. He worked for Ridge Tool in Elyria for 25 years before retiring in 1990 as a computer scheduler. He was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Amherst, where he loved to serve in roles such as church counsel president and Sunday School teacher. John treasured his role as a husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and invested heavily in his family's activities. Until drawing his last breath, John's concerns and desires were focused on the needs of his family and friends.
Survivors include his sons and their wives, John Barry and Karen Eibon of Amherst, William "Bill" and Kim Eibon of Carlisle Township; daughter, Barbara Lynn Zauner and her fiancé, Chris Deamon of North Ridgeville; seven grandchildren; one great granddaughter; and sister, Bernice Johnson of Minnesota.
