Garry R Kessel, 72, of Sheffield Village, previously of Medina, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2019. He was born on April 23, 1947, in Marietta, to the late Sherman and Mildred (Liddle) Kessel.

Garry graduated from Midview high school in 1965. He worked Medina Auto Parts for over 17 years, from which he retired, while formerly working for NAPA in Medina for 25 years.

Garry was a dedicated member to the Toledo Road Church of Christ in Lorain. He was a home handyman, often working in his lawn and garden. He found pleasure in brightening his neighborhood with Christmas displays. He had a special passion for working with prison inmates to give them a good foundation on which to overcome addictions and rebuild their lives.

He was a man who cared deeply for the needs of others and would make himself available to do whatever he could for them.

Garry is survived by his siblings, Audrey (Lawrence) Benko, of Elyria, and Roger (Debra) Kessel, of Lexington, SC; his nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and nephews.

A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2019, from 4-7 p.m., at the Waite and Son Funeral Home, 765 N Court Street, Medina, 44256. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2019, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Belden Cemetery.
