Funeral Services Friday Afternoon For Mrs. Reece - Native of Iowa In Leaf River 31 Years
Death came t Mrs. C.D. Reece at Wesley hospital last Monday morning, May 14 following on operation for the removal of her gall bladder. She was 77 years of age at the time of her passing.
Mrs. Reece was born Anna Evalina Renfer on August 9, 1873 in Center Point, Iowa, the daughter of Jacob and Martha Renfer. She grew to womanhood in Marion, Iowa, but later moved with her family to Spring Grove township in Linn County, where she became a member of the Methodist church. She was married to Curtis D. Reece at Troy Mills, Iowa, on Sept. 3, 1896. Last September she and her husband celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary. They have been residents of Leaf River township for the past 31 years.
She leaves to mourn her death her husband, three daughters and one son, Mrs. Huldah Kincade of Eagle Bend, Mrs. Anna Siers of Staples, Mrs. Ferne Olson of Henning and George D. Reece of Wadena. One son, Charles, preceded her in death on July 10, 1935. There are 31 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Last rites will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Leaf River Christian Church, with Rev. Olaf Cartford officiating. Mrs. Lyle Dilly will sing "Asleep in Jesesu" and "Beyond the Sunset". Burial will be in the Leaf River Cemetery north of Wadena, with grandsons serving as pallbearers, Byron Olson, Orval Kincade, Verlyn Kincade, Donald Siers and Willis Siers. The body will lie in state at the Butturff-Bjerke Chapel until Friday noon.
