ALLIANCE - Neva E. Hawley, 98, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, at Highland Park Care Center. She was born Sep. 5, 1903, in Cowles to Lewis and Etta (Buster) Beal. She was married to Orla M. "Brigg" Hawley on Feb. 6, 1925. She worked as a seamstress for Rhoads Store at Alliance for 28 years. She was a member of United Methodist Church and Rebekah's Lodge. Her survivors include her daughter and husband, Gretchen and Max Garwood of Alliance; grandchildren, Mike Garwood of Alliance, Janet Joslin of Minneapolis, Minn., Roger Garwood of Scottsbluff, Tim Garwood of Alliance, Wayne Akert of Colorado Springs, Colo., Jolene McGinnis of Alliance, J.R. Akert of Blue Springs, Mo.; and nine great-grandchildren. Her husband, daughter Donna Akert, son Radean Hawley, two brothers, two sisters, and one grandson Stephen Akert preceded her in death. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 4, at the Bates-Gould Chapel in Alliance with Rev. Mark Schutt officiating. Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery.
