Funeral was Tuesday in the Cottondale Baptist Church for Mary Nell Stanley Armstrong, 69, of Bridgeport. Burial was in the Cottondale Cemetery. The Rev. Charles Pugh officiated.

Armstrong died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000, in Decatur.

Born April 20, 1931, in Wink, she was a 1949 graduate of Wink High School and was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Boyd. She married Wade Armstrong March 3, 1951, in Lovington, New Mexico.

Survivors include her husband, Wade E. Armstrong; a son, Billy Neil Armstrong and his wife Janet; a daughter, Marsha Lee Carpenter and her husband Deaun; three grandchildren, Scott Eric and Brent Allen Carpenter and Allysa Diane Armstrong; two sisters, Mattie Evelyn Reeves and Jewel Holmes and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Scott Carpenter, Mike Smith, Brent Carpenter, Blake Hensley, David Camp and Carlton Mann.
