William Lingren was the son of Tillmand Payne (Bud) Barnett and Billie Clide Reynolds. He was born 9 Mar 1901 in Mt. Vernon Franklin Co., TX. He married Thelma Roxie (Minnie) Jordan on 12 Sep 1919 in Franklin Co., TX. She was the daughter of John Henry Jordan and Martha Miranda Draper.

Together William and Thelma had 8 children:

William died on 9 Jul 1947 at Mercedes General Hospital in Hidalgo County of cancer in the right chest wall. At the time of his death, William was a Insurance agent in Mt. Vernon.

Funeral services for William Barnett, 46, who died Wednesday morning in the Mercedes General hospital, will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday in the Baptist church at Edcouch.

Mr. Barnett had been a resident of Mercedes for three years, and was formerly of La Ferla.

Burial will be in the Harlingen cemetery, and the Statler mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife. Thelma; three sons, Bentley of Sebastian, and James and Roy of Mercedes: four daughters. Mrs. Cecil Wood of El Paso, Mrs. T. D. Jordan of Georgia, and almau and Elizabeth Barnett of Mercedes; one sister, Mrs. J. B. Bartley of Mt. Vernon, Tex; and four grandchildren.
