US Congressman. He was elected to represent Maryland's 3rd District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from March 4, 1855 to March 3, 1861. He declined to run for re-election on the eve of the Civil War, and his seat was subsequently won by Congressman Cornelius Lawrence Ludlow Leary.
