At 5'10" and 171lbs he played the position of center for teams in th National Hockey League (NHL), Pacific Coast Hockey Association (PCHA), and the West Coast Hockey League (WCHL). Boucher played for the Ottawa Senators from 1921 to 1922, Vancouver Maroons from 1922 to 1926, New York Rangers from 1926 to 1938, and 1943 to 1944. He won the Stanley Cup in 1928 and 1933, was NHL All-Star First Team center from 1932 to 1935, coach from 1941 to 1942, NHL All-Star Second Team center from 1930 to 1931, coach from 1939 to 1940, and NHL All-Star Roster in 1937. Also a coach, he coached the New York Rovers from 1938 to 1939 in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), New York Rangers from 1939 to 1949, and 1953 to 1954, in the National Hockey League (NHL), Regina/Brandon Regals from 1955 to 1956 in the Western Hockey League (WHL), and the Saskatoon Quakers from 1958 to 1959 in the Western Hockey League (WHL). Boucher was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1958.
