John Booker Link was born March 13, 1818, in Halifax, Halifax County, Virginia, USA, and was born to William B. Link, Jr. and Sarah "Sallie" Blackwell Link. John married Elizabeth Lawson in Halifax, Virginia, on December 4, 1849, at the age of 31. John and his wife, Elizabeth had 11 children:

John Booker died in Wainwright, Callaway County, MO, on April 19, 1868, at the age of 50 years, 1 month and 4 days old and was buried at the Epperson Cemetery, Callaway County, MO.
Many years later the farm where the Epperson Cemetery was located was purchased by a man who raised pigs. The pigs were allowed to root the cemetery, and in turn, knocked over stones which angered the Link family. The Link family decided to move the stones (not the bodies) to the Link Cemetery, in order to keep them from being destroyed any further.
Plot: The stone for John Booker Link is at the Link Cemetery in Callaway County, MO and his person is still buried (unmarked) at the Epperson Cemetery.
