Chistine Bishop Obit:

Mrs. Christine Kelley Bishop, a resident of Maple Street in Whiteville and a native Fayette Countian, died at 4:30 P.M. Saturday, December 20, 2003, at the Methodist Healthcare in Somerville. She was 78 years of age and died following a brief illness.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 A.M. Monday, December 22nd at the Peebles Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Claudie Hammers, retired pastor of the Liberty Baptist Church in Fayette County, officiating. Interment was in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in District 15 of Fayette County. Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Bishop was born June 16, 1925, in Fayette County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Hershel and Mary Kelley. She attended Fayette County schools and was married October 27, 1946, to Edgar L. Bishop, longtime brick mason and United States Army Veteran who died May 9, 1991.
Mrs. Bishop was of the Baptist faith and was a lifelong resident of Fayette and Hardeman Counties. She had been a resident of Whiteville for over fifty years and was a homemaker throughout her life. She enjoyed nature and out door activities and will be remembered as a private person who held a special closeness to her home and family.
Mrs. Bishop is survived by her daughter, Wanda Ann Roberts of Laconia; her son, Edgar Wayne Bishop and wife, Kathy, of Bolivar; her sister, Willie Holland of Memphis, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Casketbearers were Matt Anderson, Brad Bishop, Kevin Bishop, Bobby Ferge, Kenny Ferge and David Long.
