Gabriel Bryne was born April 4, 1856 at Stavenger, Norway.His parents were Malinna and Bernt Bryne.He died at his hoime early last Friday, August 14, at about 5.45 pm after being found in the creek bottom in an unconscious condition, that morning at about 7.00 o'clock.He was either the victim of robbery or a hiut and run driver.At the time of his death he was 75 years, 4 months and ten days old.
In August 1876 he was married to Ane Nelen Thorson Vagle in Norway, a little later comming to America. In 1881 they came to this section and took up a homestead about four mijles southwest of Kathryn where they were occupied with extensive farming interests until about 22 years ago when they moved into town and he has made his home here since.
His wife passed to the Great Beyondonly last March the 12 (1929).
He leaves to mourn his departure seven daughters and two sons, viz: (Mary) Mrs. J. L. Birklid, Nome; (Lena) Mrs. C. Helland, Ardill, Sask., Canada; (Bessie) Mrs. John Wenneson, Litchville; Esten, Seattle, Wash; (Annie) Mrs. Harry Shefte, Harvey, N.D.: (Alma) Mrs. Theo. Solheim, Kathryn; (Martha) Mrs. Nels bolme, Jamestown; (Esther) Mrs. Henry Krueger, Jamestown and Ambrosius, Kathryn.All the children were present except Esten in Seatttle and Mrs. Helland in Canada.One daughter, Lilly died when only a few weeks old, about 35 years ago.He was also survived by one sister, Maria who lives in Norway.He also leaves 43 grandchiulkdren and 7 great granchildren.
He was born to his last resting place by six grandsons.Funeral services were held at the St. Paul Church in kathryn last Sunday, August 16 and interment made in the Nordheim Cemetery on the Sand Prairie, beside his wife.Rev. Mykland of Preston officiated in the Norwegian language by Rev Sandanger of Fort Ransom who spoke in the English language.
We join the many friends of the bereaved family in wishing them condolence in this their hour of sorrow.
