Doris May DesJardins of Shell Lake, died on Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at Terraceview Living Center in Shell Lake.

She was born on May 15, 1921, in Shell Lake to Lester and Mabel (Merchant) Allen. She graduated from Shell Lake High School in 1939. She then graduated from Superior Normal School before completing the business program at Hamline University in St. Paul. Dotty then worked for Shell Lake State Bank and later at Allen Gas and Oil Company.

She married Clinton DesJardins in Shell Lake on Nov. 29, 1945. Dotty was a lifelong member of Shell Lake United Methodist Church, where she belonged to the Methodist Women�s Guild. She was a 50-year member of both the American Legion Auxiliary and Order of Eastern Star. She was also a Cub Scout leader for several years.

She is survived by her husband, of Shell Lake; one son, Steven, of Springbrook; one daughter, Sherry (Greg) Staerkel of Houston, Texas; two grandchildren, Theresa and Julie DesJardins; one great-grandson, Kyle Davis; one brother, Edwin (JoAnn) Allen of Shell Lake; nieces and nephews; cousins; and friends.

She was preceded in death by one son, Richard; one granddaughter, Jennifer; and two sisters, Barbara Pederson and Donna Simonetti.

The funeral was held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 25, at Shell Lake United Methodist Church. Rev. Charles Wendt officiated.

Burial was in Shell Lake Cemetery.

Pall bearers were Jason Penning, Brad Pederson, Brad Scott, Dewey Durand, Tom DesJardins, and Scott Hurd.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Pockat Funeral Home of Shell Lake.
