Lela I. Bird, 94, Muncie, died Wednesday in Ball Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
Mrs. Bird, who was born in Summitville, had moved to Muncie as a child and attended city schools.
She was a member of Industry United Methodist Church, Veterans of World War I Auxiliary Barricks 139 and Kaleb Kin Club of Grace Baptist Church.
Survivors include five sons, Edward J. Bird (wife: Wanda), Pikesville, Tenn., Charles M. Bird (wife: Nancy), Deland, Fla., and Ray E. Bird (wife: Joyce E.), Gary D. Bird (wife: Joyce) and Michael R. Bird (wife: Diane), all of Muncie; three daughters, Alice LaChat, Selma, Betty Jennings (husband: Charles), Marion, and Rosaella Cartwright, Muncie; a sister, Midlred Lawson, Muncie; 30 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Edward H. Bird, died in 1959. Two sons, Danny and Fred Bird; two daughters, Ann Peters and Judith Bird, and four grandchildren are also deceased.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Meeks Mortuary. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory, north of Muncie.
Calling will be 90 minutes before services Friday at the mortuary.
