Born August 17, 1955 in Lewiston, Idaho she was the daughter of Hyrum Norman and Lois Margaret (Scranton) Maughan. Susan grew up in Washington State and was a graduate of Chency High School. She moved to Baldwin City in 1999.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning November 26, 2011 at 10 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 3615 W. 10th St., Lawrence, Kansas. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Baldwin City, KS. There will be two visitations, Friday evening from 6-8 PM at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home in Baldwin City and Saturday from 8:30-9:30 AM at the church.
Susan served as Primary President where she really enjoyed working with children. She also served as a Seminary Teacher teaching religion to high school students every morning usually from 6-7 AM. She was an active member of her congregation at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ottawa Ward.
Susan enjoyed acting, singing and children. She acted in, produced and directed a number of productions at the Baldwin City Community Theatre. She loved going to the library in Baldwin City where she often helped in children's activities. She was famous for her homemade cinnamon rolls and would sell them at the Maple Leaf Festival and at the Baldwin City Farmer's Market. Susan was a huge supporter of girl's athletics at Baldwin High School and Baldwin Junior High School.
Survivors include her husband, Patrick of the home, nine children; Richard (Jennifer) Outcalt, Sallyann (David) Smith, Seth (Kate) Outcalt, Lanny (Brooke) Outcalt, Jacob (Janice) Outcalt, Laura Pouliot, Michael (Tashua) Pouliot, Emily Pouliot and Amy Pouliot, seven siblings; Dan(Jenny) Maughan, Larry Maughan, Donna (George) Shaffer, Sally (Nate) Wells, Tom (Robin)Maughan, Tim (Denise) Maughan, Peter (Dana) Maughan and thirteen grandchildren.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Hyrum Norman Maughan & Lois Margaret Scranton, and a sister, Linda Kae (Mike) Abdo.
