Walter Herman Schwartz, 90, of Granite Falls died Sunday, November 20, 2011 at the Granite Manor in Granite Falls. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 26 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Granite Falls. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment is in the church Walter Herman Schwartz was born November 30, 1920 in Posen Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, the son of Henry and Anna (Hoepner) Schwartz. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Posen Township, and attended school at Cottonwood. On June 19, 1948, Walter was united in marriage to Bernice Waller at Rock Valle Lutheran Church. The couple had one son, Mark. Walter was a farmer his entire life, loved his animals and John Deere tractors. He enjoyed going to auction sales, socializing, and playing cards - especially Pinochle. Walter loved his family and was very proud of them.
Walter is survived by his son Mark (special friend Barb Knudsen) of Cold Spring; two grandchildren: Angela (Joe) Kerkes of Ramsey County, and Scott (Tanya) Schwartz of Ramsey County; and 5 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Bernice, seven brothers, and one sister.
