The funeral for Elia F. Grueber was Monday at 2:30 p.m., in the Zion Lutheran Church, Hubbell. He died last Friday in University Hospital,Omaha, at the age of 70 years, 5 months and 8 days. The son of George C. and Sophia Peters Grueber, he was born May 1, 1917, at Hardy. He attended country school near Byron. Feb. 11, 1945, he was united in marriage to Norma D. Mussmann in St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Ruskin. Six children, Lucinda, Darlene, Steven, Stanley, Kathryn and Bradley, were born to this union.
He farmed much of his life. In 1953 he and his wife moved to Hubbell to operate a tavern and cafe until it was sold in 1974. He still continued to farm until the early 1980's.
He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Hubbell. May 20, 1917, he was baptized in St. Peter Lutheran Church, Byron, and confirmed there Oct. 18, 1931. Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother, Walter, and two sisters, Lavira and Louise. Survivors include his wife, Norma; three daughters and three sons, Mrs. Ron Lange(Lucinda) of Carleton, Mrs. Richard Walter (Darlene) of
Shickley, Steven Grueber of North Bend, Stanley Grueber of
Arlington, Texas, Mrs. Robert Frame (Kathryn) of Lincoln
and Bradley Grueber of Garland, Neb.; 14 grandchildren; three brothers, Clarence Grueber of Chester; Haroldine Grueber of Hebron and Marvin Grueber of Mesa, Ariz.; one sister, Josephine Bohling, Byron; and many other relatives.
The services were conducted by the Rev. Paul M. Hoecker.
Interment was in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Bachelor-Fauikner-Dart Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Superior Express October 15, 1987.
