Obituary
Elizabeth Constable Shute, who lived the larger portion of her life in Washington County died Wednesday at her home in Portland. Her health had failed during the past year, but she was able to come to Hiilboro occasionally and called on old friends.
She was greatly interested in maintenance of the West Union Church and cemetery and a year ago headed a movement which placed the old building in repair.
Her remains will now rest in the spot she loved. Mrs Shute was a daughter of the pioneer Edward Constable and was born on the donation land claim August 13 1848. She is survived by two sons Arthur C and Edward Shute both of whom now lived in Portland.
The funeral will be held today Friday at 10 am at the Portland Crematorium with concluding services Saturday at 10 30 am at eh West Union Cemetery
Lillian Shute said the following: Elizabeth was so grief stricken at the death of her sixteen year old daughter and apparently became emotionally and mentally unstable. John divorced her and married a second time to Mary Emma Smith 38 his junior.
