Son of Samuel B. Phillips and Catherine Daisey Sineath.
Having served in the United States Army Air Corp during WW II, he retired from the United States Air Force after 22 years. He served in the Air Force Inspector Generals office in Washington, D.C., the U.S. Embassy office of the Air Attaché in Havana, Cuba, and in the Intelligence and Physical Security at Eglin Air Force Base. He came to Columbia with the Air Force as their liaison for the Civil Air Patrol.
He was a member of North Trenholm Baptist Church where he was member of the Bill Donahue Sunday School Class.
Surviving are his wife and son, two daughters, a brother, two sisters, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, his mother-in-law, and two special people to Mr. and Mrs. Phillips, Dr. Aubrey Cartwright and Lindsey Youngblood.
