MARY MADYLEE MCELFISH
Mary Madylee McElfish, daughter of Oliver and Hester (Jacobs) Bright, was born near Lineville, Iowa, on Sept. 1, 1923, and passed away on Oct. 26, 2011, at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa, at the age of 88.
Mary was united in marriage to Claud Junior "Bease" McElfish on Dec. 6, 1941. Claud preceded her in death May 12, 1997.
Mary was raised in the Lineville, Iowa, community, where she lived most of her life, and farmed with her husband, Claud. She also worked as a cook in restaurants in Lineville, and Mercer, Mo., for several years and later was employed by O'Brien Brothers in Leon until her retirement. She has made her home in Council Bluffs for the past 10 years.
Mary enjoyed crocheting, gardening, playing bingo, and especially loved being with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Her parents and two brothers, Paul and Earl Bright preceded her in death.
She is survived by daughter, Paulett McIntosh and son-in-law, Donnie of Council Bluffs; son, Roy McElfish and daughter-in-law, Becky of Leon; four grandchildren, Tammy Bennett and husband Phil of Bethany, Mo., Mark McElfish of Lineville and Marquitta and Mathew McElfish, both of Leon; nine great-grandchildren, John, Ashley, and Whitney Bennett, Tylor, Tucker, and Tanner Perkins, Sierra McElfish, Erica Kauzlarich, and Cinzie McElfish; sister-in-law, Clara Bright of Des Moines and other relatives and friends.
Graveside services and burial were held on Oct. 29 at the Evergreen Cemetery in Lineville with Pastors Max Carmichael and Ron Helton officiating,
