Martha E. "Mattie" Litton filed a claim for a homestead five miles west of Alva. She married Charles Newton (C N) Parsons 16 Jun 1897, probably in Woods County, OKlahoma.

They became parents of two children: Charles Harvard Parsons, who relocated to New Jersey after passing the bar exam in 1930 at the top of his law class, and a daughter, Mattie "Myrl" Parsons, who married George Everett McCann.

Myrl's daughter Maurine (Mattie's granddaughter) conducted extensive research on the Parsons family but no one knows what happened to her files.

Like many others in that period, Martha developed lung problems. They moved to New Mexico in 1905 in hope it would improve Mrs. Parsons' health, but she died two years later, at age 34.
