DEATH SUMMONS SAMUEL F. Brady
------------
Pioneer of Muncie and Dean of Railway Mail Service Is Dead.
------------
CAME TO MUNCIE IN 1836
------------
Brother of Late Gen. Thomas Brady and Uncle of Union Traction President.
------------
At 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon Samuel F. Brady, one of the best known citizens of Muncie, passed away at his home, 216 East Washington street, after an illness of many months.
Mr. Brady was born in Richmond, Ind., December 12, 1827, and came to Muncie about 1836, it is supposed, although this could not be ascertained definitly.
Mr. Brady entered the government railway postal service about thirty years ago and had been actively employed in this until a short time ago, when he became an invalid. Mr. Brady is probably the only man who enjoyed the distinction of having entered the mail service before the advent of the civil service rules and held his position continuously until the rules were established.
Mr. Brady is the brother of the late General Thomas Brady and is an uncle of Arthur Brady, president of the Indiana Union traction lines. He is survived by a wife and two children, John W. Brady and Mary M. Brady, both of whom were with him at the time of his demise. He was also the father of Frank Brady, who died under such pathetic circumstances at Toledo, O., several weeks ago.
The funeral will be conducted from the residence Tuesday at 2 o'clock by Dr. E.B. Randle. Burial will be made in Beech Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Brady's death will be a distinct loss the the members of the railway mail service, as he was considered the dean of the service. During his time in the service he always ran on the Lake Erie & Western railway, main division.
