Actor. He is best remembered for his role as the father of the little girl Maria in "Frankenstein" (1931). He also appeared in "Four Sons" (1928), "The Black Cat" (1934), "The Glass Key" (1935), "Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe" (1940), "Arise, My Love" (1940), "Casablanca" (1942), "Back to Bataan" (1945), "Appointment with Murder" (1948), "Phantom from Space" (1953), "Silk Stockings" (1957), "The Brothers Karamazov" (1958) and "Hello, Dolly" (1969).
