Florence Martha Gygi Blodgett died June 26, 1999 in Draper, Utah, at the age of 89.

She was born January 16, 1910 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Rudolph and Liesetta Riedelbauch Gygi. She married her sweetheart, William Durell Blodgett, June 12, 1934 in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was always willing to share her testimony of the gospel with others. She and her husband, Bill, served three missions together in Revelstoke, British Columbia; in Mesa, Arizona; and at Temple Square in Salt Lake City. They worked together in the store, Cottonwood Food Center, and later in the catering business. They celebrated their 61st Wedding Anniversary prior to Bill's death in 1995. She served exquisite meals and was supervising cook at the Lion House and the Salt Lake Home. She had an affinity with children and could hold them spellbound with her storytelling, quick wit and tales of her life experiences as a child and youth growing up in Salt Lake City and Midvale. She was grateful for her many friends in Holladay and Sandy and throughout the world.She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her parents; six brothers; George, Joseph, Wilford, Orson, Ralph and Alma Gygi; two sisters, Mary Sorensen; Ruth Wright Hilton; and son-in-law, John D. Peterson. She is survived by three sisters, Helen Lach and Thelma Aylett, Salt Lake City; Berniece Ryser, Denver, Colorado; sisters-in-law, Vera Gygi and Zina Gygi, Holladay; a daughter, Joan Peterson, Palo Alto, California; three sons, Terry (Cheryl) Blodgett, Cedar City; Steven (Barbara) Blodgett, Sandy; Richard (Diane) Blodgett, Manassas, Virginia; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Three of her grandsons are currently serving LDS missions: Brent Blodgett in Hamburg, Germany; Benjamin Olson in Fukuoka, Japan; and John Blodgett in Roseville, California.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 1, 1999 at Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 So. Highland Dr. Friends may call 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, June 30, 1999 and 9:45-10:45 a.m., Thursday, prior to the services. Burial will be at Holladay Memorial Park, 4900 So. Memory Lane
