Actor/Producer/Director. Ken Murray was born Kenneth Doncourt in New York City to a father who was a vaudeville performer. He performed on stage, and was famous for "Ken Murray's Blackouts", a stage variety show at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood, and for movies and radio including the famous Hollywood Canteen during World War II. As a producer, he created shows such as Bill and Coo, and a weekly television show, The Ken Murray Show, that ran between 1951 and 1952 and the Marshall's Daughter. He created home movies that Columbia Pictures utilized in a short subject series called "Screen Snapshots" that were frequently used in documentaries and Hollywood retrospectives, and compiled his extensive library of home movies into a film anthology called "Ken Murray's Shooting Stars". As a performer, he appeared in a number of films including The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, as the doctor who pronounced Liberty Valance dead, and Son of Flubber. He authored a number of books, including his autobiography "Life on a Pogo Stick." Murray was awarded a star on the Hollywood walk of Fame located at 1724 Vine Street. He was married three times, the most recent to Betty Lou Murray and had four children, two sons, Kenneth Doncourt Jr., Cort Murray and two daughters, Janie Murray and Pamela Ann Murray. Ken Murray died in Burbank, California at age 85.
