Audrey McKeown, 90, of Paducah, died Saturday, November 19, 2011, at 5:13 p.m. at her home surrounded by her family.
A native of Evansville, IN, she has lived in Paducah for over 60 years. She was a 60- year member and past regent of St. Francis De Sales Circle #258 of the Daughters of Isabella, and a past State Regent of the KY State Circle. She was a member of the Paducah Lioness Club where she held all offices including that of president. She and her late husband were active members in Lions Club International where Mr. McKeown served as International Director. They devoted their lives to their family, their church and their community. Mrs. McKeown was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
She is survived by her eight children: Judy Walker (Keith), Al McKeown (Mary), Jane Parker (Bill), Jackie Hopper, all of Paducah, Brian McKeown (Debbie) of Lexington, KY, Robert K. McKeown of St. Charles, MO, Jean Doris Ray (Ron) and Colleen Krier (Jim) both of Pheonix, AZ. Also surving is her sister, Mrs. Carol Smith of Evansville, IN, 25 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, eight step great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson, one step great-great grandson, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert P. (Bob) McKeown, a sister Jean Doris Shumate, a brother, James Adrian Shumate, and great-grandson, Jonah Lee Sullivan. She was the daughter of the late Sam and Erna (Zoll) Shumate.
Services will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 11:00 AM, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with Reverend J. Patrick Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 21, 2011 at the Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah. The Daughters of Isabella will recite the rosary at 7:45 p.m. with prayers following at 8:00 p.m.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Mary School System, 1243 Elmdale Rd. Paducah, KY 42003; Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation, 301 E. Muhammad Ali Blvd. Louisville, KY 40202; or and charity of your choice.
