Mrs. Balliet Dies, Aged 92
One of the Oldest Residents of This Section Passes Away at Home of Daughter,
Mrs. H.T. Ritter, 57 Locust Street
Mrs. Sarah Balliet, one of the eldest residents of this section, died last evening about 8 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H. T. Ritter, at 57 Locust Street. She had been bedfast for nearly a year. She was 92 years old.
Mrs. Balliet was born on March 11, 1841 in Delaware Township, the daughter of John and Lydia Hoffman. In 1864, she married George Balliet, who died in 1918.
Mrs. Balliet was a lifelong member of Trinity Reformed Church, Turbotville. She spent practically her entire life on Watsontown R.D. and in Delaware Township. She had been living with her daughter, Mrs. Ritter, for more than one year.
Surviving are the following children, Mrs. Ritter; Mrs. Annie Smith, of Turbotville; Mrs. Margaret Mincemoyer, of Watsontown, R.D.; George Balliet, of Watsontown, R.D.; William Balliet, of Watsontown; Lloyd and John Balliet, of Milton. Twenty-one grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at the Ritter home, 57 Locust Street, Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Her pastor, Rev. Walter R. Clark, of Turbotville will conduct the services. Interment will be made in Turbotville cemetery.
