Phyllis Garr Kingsford, 87, passed away September 16, 2011 at her daughter's home in Sunset, UT., of causes incident to age.
She was born March, 5, 1924 to John Delore Garr and Leone Whitney Garr in Weston, ID. She Graduated from South Cache, High School in 1942.
Phyllis married Merle Dowdle Kingsford on June 27, 1943 in Norman, OK.
Her family left Idaho and moved to Millville, UT., in 1925. She belonged to the Clinton 8th LDS ward and held many callings. She spent many hours canning and preserving food and raising a garden. She had a beautiful yard and flowers which many loved to see. She worked off and on while raising and taking care of her large family. She and her husband served on a genealogy mission in 1989. She was very talented in many areas, and enjoyed passing that on and teaching her family and friends.
Phyllis is survived by her 7 children: Katherine Kingsford, Clinton, UT.; Della Code, Sunset, UT.; Sandra Phillips, Fort Worth, TX.; Kenneth Kingsford, Provo, UT.;Karl Kingsford, Roy, UT.; Francine Brady, San Bernadino, CA.; Robert Kingsford, Ridge Crest, CA.; brother, Dennis Garr, Hyde Park, UT., sister, Gwenda Wilson, Layton, UT. as well as 100 descendants and counting.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 brothers and 1 sister: Cyril Garr, Farrell Garr, and Lawana Smith.
Funeral services will be held at the Clinton 8th Ward, 702 West 1300 North, on Monday, September 26, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Friends and family may visit at Leavitt's Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Sunday, September 25, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. and from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church.
Interment Clinton City Cemetery.
