HICKEY, THELMA GARRISON- age 95 of the Karns Community, went to be with the Lord on November 19. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church and Ruth Sunday School Class. She was a retired school teacher and life member of the Tennessee Teachers Association. She is preceded in death by her husband Herbert M. Hickey and daughter Gayle Hickey Fritts. She is survived by her son Marshall H. Hickey and daughter-in-law Virginia H. Hickey two grandsons, Jason and Patricia Fritts, and Joshua and Amy Fritts, and four great grandchildren Abigail Fritts, Morgan Fritts, Garrison Fritts, and McKenna Fritts, and sister Laverne Dyer, and sister-in-law...
HICKEY, THELMA GARRISON- age 95 of the Karns Community, went to be with the Lord on November 19. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church and Ruth Sunday School Class. She was a retired school teacher and life member of the Tennessee Teachers Association. She is preceded in death by her husband Herbert M. Hickey and daughter Gayle Hickey Fritts. She is survived by her son Marshall H. Hickey and daughter-in-law Virginia H. Hickey two grandsons, Jason and Patricia Fritts, and Joshua and Amy Fritts, and four great grandchildren Abigail Fritts, Morgan Fritts, Garrison Fritts, and McKenna Fritts, and sister Laverne Dyer, and sister-in-law Nancy Chesney. Her hobby for many years was tracing her family ancestry. She was known as the historian of the Karns Community. She was a member of the Daughters of The American Revolution, Daughters of Founders and Patriots of America, Colonial Dames of the 17th Century, Daughters of the American Colonists, Daughters of the War of 1812 and First Families of Tennessee. She was past president of the Tennessee Rural Carriers Auxiliary. A special thanks to the staff and residents of Autumn Care Assisted Living facility where she spent the last two years. They cared for Thelma and our family with the greatest of skill, love and compassion. Family will receive friends at Weavers Tuesday, November 22, 2011 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm with a service to follow at 7:00pm. Family and friends will meet Wednesday, November 23, 2011, 10:45am at Oak Ridge Memorial Park for an 11:00am graveside service.
