Viola was the first of nine children born to John Richard and Elizabeth Caroline PASSMORE PRICE. At that time, the Price family was living in Cherry Spring a small community in Gillespie Co., TX. Both the Price and Passmore families had moved to Gillespie Co., TX about 10 years before Viola was born. In the 1890s, the Price family moved to Bandera and then Brown Co., TX and then on to Oklahoma Territory where she met and married her future husband.

Soon after Viola married Walton Pinkington "Pink" ALLGOOD. After spending a few years in Oklahoma, the Price family returned to Gillespie Co., TX and the new Allgood family moved with them.

The extended Price family spent a few years in the Gillespie County and Bandera, TX area and were involved in ranching as well as running a freight business from Bandera to Devine, TX. Viola's mother, Elizabeth, died soon after giving birth to her ninth child. Soon after Elizabeth's death in 1901, the extended family moved back to Brown Co., TX where Viola and Pink spent the remainder of their years.

Six years after the death of her mother, Viola's father remarried and a few years latter, about half of the extended Price family moved to Hawley, Jones County, Texas.
