Joseph A. "Joe" Majersky, 68, of Allegheny Township, died Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, in VNA Hospice Inpatient Unit, Butler, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born Feb. 20, 1943, in Apollo, he was a son of the late Joseph N. and Anna (Mikus) Majersky. He lived in the Apollo area all of his life. He was a 1961 graduate of Apollo High School and attended Clarion University. Joe had been employed by Wean United and retired from Leybold Vacuum in Export. A veteran, he served with the Army during the Vietnam War as a military police officer in Germany. He was a member of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Apollo, and the NRA. Joe was an avid hunter who enjoyed nature, gardening, woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Andrew Majersky; infant grandson, Benjamin Joseph Broudy; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Patricia E. "Patty" (McGuire) Majersky, of Allegheny Township; two daughters, Michelle M. (Michael) Broudy, of Fox Chapel, and Stephanie (Matthew) Burger, of Murrysville; twin granddaughters, Emma and Natalie Broudy, of Fox Chapel; brother, John (Joann) Majersky, of Cortland, Ohio; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the CURRAN-SHAFFER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY INC., 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. James Roman Catholic Church, Apollo, with Father John Euker as celebrant. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Apollo.
