Dorothy "Joan" (Cooper) Stinnett, 84, of Lee's Summit, MO passed away on Friday, October 23, 2020 with her loved ones by her side. Cremation is planned with an inurnment to be held in the Spring of 2021 at Mound Grove Cemetery in Independence, MO. Joan was born on March 15, 1936 in Purdin, MO to Harold and Dorothy Mae (Phillips) Cooper. She grew up in the country and maintained her roots, even after moving to Independence. On October 24, 1958 Joan married Thomas "Bud" Stinnett. Together they had four children. She spent many years working at Montgomery Ward then later worked for Farmers Insurance. In her spare time, she loved to cook for her family, crochet, read books, and feed the little critters in her yard. Most of all, Joan loved being with her family. She was truly a wonderful person, always smiling, and will be greatly missed by many people. Her survivors include: daughter Deena Pierre and husband Tom of Albany, NY, son Robert "Bob" Stinnett and wife Paula of Norman, OK, daughter Denise Hachinsky and husband Shaun of Lee's Summit, MO; daughter Carla Owens and husband Jeff of Independence, MO; sister Karen Devore, brother Roger Cooper, sister Mary Grothe and husband Larry; grandchildren TJ Pierre, Tara Havard, Andrea Pierre, Trent Owens, BreeAnna Owens, Sloan Stinnett, Brendan Stinnett; and great-grandchildren Maddie Havard, Maddie Pierre, Ellie Pierre, Layla Owens, and Luke Owens; plus many cousins, in-laws, friends, and neighbors. Waiting in Heaven to greet her are her parents Harold and Mae Cooper, grandson Justin Hachinsky, husband Bud Stinnett, sister Phyllis Forson, and brother Vernon Cooper, plus many other in-laws, extended family members, and friends.
