Dorothy (Shaykett) Wellner, 81, of Sioux Falls and formerly of Miller, died Thursday, February 24 at Doughtery Hospice House in Sioux Falls.
Dorothy's memorial service was Monday, February 28 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Miller with Pastor Bob Ohnstad officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date at the Danish Lutheran Cemetery, Nisland, SD.
Dorothy was born January 29, 1930 to John and Kate Adams in Vale, SD. On June 16, 1950 she married Charles R. Shaykett and they moved to Huron, SD. They later moved to Miller, SD where she worked with Charles in his insurance and real estate business. Charles passed away in 1983.
In December of 1991, Dorothy married Frank Bud Wellner. They resided at Lees Corner near Ft. Thompson for several years before returning to Miller. In 2010 they moved to Sioux Falls.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Miller. She was an avid bowler, and enjoyed playing card games. Most of all she enjoyed being around her family and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; brothers, Fredrick and Elmer; and her son, Greg Shaykett.
Grateful for having share her life are her husband, Frank Bud Wellner; a son, Steven (Dianna) Shaykett, Hartford, SD; grandchildren, Jessica (Scott Whitely) Shaykett, St. Paul, MN, Travis (Katie) Shaykett, Sioux Falls, SD; step son, Frankie (Cathy) Wellner, Pierre, SD; step-grandchildren, Patrick Wellner, Pierre, SD, Megan Wellner, Sioux Falls; and sisters, Rosie Zwetzig, Sturgis, SD and Mildred Brunner, Vale, SD.
