"Mrs. Alice Temple Dies in Hospital"
Lake View, S.C. - Mrs. Alice Page Temple, age 83, wife of the late L.W. Temple of Lake View, S.C. died in Robeson County Memorial Hospital Wednesday, after a lingering illness of several months.
Mrs. Page is the daughter of Christian Marianne Ford and Joseph Nichols Page of this section. Both parents and grandparents were of pioneer families of the old Page's Mill settlement and founders of historic Bear Swamp Baptist Church near Lake View. Her great great grandfather, the first Joseph Page, was given a land grant for land in that section of North and South Carolina by the King of England in 1770, and her uncle Dr. Rufus Ford was a well known minister in this section. Her husband, who died several years ago was a native of Wake County, N.C.
She is survived by the following children. A.R. Temple of Boloxi, Miss., Mrs. W.E. Price, of Oklahoma City, Okla., Mrs. L.B. Daniel of Newborn, N.C., Mrs. Alimae Temple of Lake View, Dr. L. Wade Temple of Lake View, Mrs. Hunter Huss of Gastonia, N.C., Mrs. Roy Grinnell of Clarksville, Va., Mrs. Alan Chamberlin of Mobile, Ala.; and nineteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. Two children, Joseph Page Temple and Mrs. Jane Temple Watson died several years ago.
Services will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 3:30 at the Bear Swamp Church, where her family have been active members since the organization of the church. Rev. R.E. Moore, pastor, will be in charge. Pallbearers will be grandsons, and the deacons of the church will be honorary pallbearers.
