Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by a daughter: Sharon M. Simmons, a son: Travis T. Simmons, a brother: Edmond Simmons Jr. and 3 sisters: Gladys Blair, Vange Griffith and Kathelene Herron.
He was a World War II Navy veteran, a member of the White Hall Christian Church. He worked at Stateville Prison in Joliet until joining the Navy in 1944. He worked at the White Hall Post Office from 1947 until retirement in 1981. He was a member of the National Assoc. of Letter
Carriers Local 2315 and the White Hall American Legion.
Services were entrusted to Airsman-Hires Funeral Home of White Hall, Illinois.
