CARRIER MILLS - Clara Mae Bailey, 84, died at 6:15 Monday, Jan. 14, 2008, at her home.
She was born Nov. 16, 1923, in Carrier Mills to the late Charles and Clara Vincent Campbell.
She married Victor Bailey on Jan. 16, 1946. He preceded her in death Aug. 5, 1991.
Clara Mae was a member of Carrier Mills First United Methodist Church, Dorcas Sunday School class and United Methodist Women. She had been a member of Comfort Rebekah Lodge 48 since Oct. 9, 1945, and served as Noble Grand twice. She loved sports and music.
Mrs. Bailey is survived by a daughter, Linda Figg and husband, Steve, of Stonefort; three sons, Fred Bailey and wife, Kathy, of Ocoee, Fla.; James V. Bailey, stationed in Bahrain, and Phillip Bailey and wife, Angie, of Carrier Mills; nine grandchildren, Scott Figg and wife, Rhonda, Jason Figg, Lynda Gale Wright and husband, Andy, Aaron Bailey, Torey Bailey, Josh Bailey, T.J. Bailey and Isabella Bailey; three great-grandchildren, Slayden and Sienna Figg and Bailey Vaughn Wright; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter, Hanna Nicole Bailey; two sisters, Nettie Tanner and Mary Pankey; and five brothers, Olen, Lloyd, Austin, Homer and Harry Campbell.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, with the Rev. Joey Dunning officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
