Sabra Ann Johnson was born at Buffalo, Missouri where she grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage to William L. Fenex, also a native of Buffalo, on Feb. 24, 1889. To this union were born 11 children, eight of whom survive. Ruth Omega died at six months, Walter at 10 years and Floyd preceded his mother in death by three days passing away Friday evening, Feb. 17, at Rapid City. Mr. Fenex Sr., died Dec. 28, 1941.
The couple observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1939 and Mrs. Fenex was laid to rest on the date of her wedding day in the dress she wore at her golden wedding.
Mr. and Mrs. Fenex moved to Wyoming in 1890, homesteading on Little Boxelder; then they moved into Glenrock in 1898. Mrs. Fenex had three firsts in her activities, a charter member of the Baptist Community Church, a charter member in the American Legion Auxiliary and a charter member of the OES, Golden West Chapter No. 37, of which she was a past worthy matron.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Claude Lam and Mrs. Harold Thornton of Glenrock and Mrs. Hugh Smyth of Chula Vista, Calif.; five sons, John of Corona, Calif.; James of Denver; Roy of Santa Monica, Calif.; Homer of Chula Vista, Calif.; and Guy of Billings; 32 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
