He was born May 31, 1934, in Richfield,to LaVar James
and Verniece Robinson Despain. He served in the Army in the early 1960s. He worked as carpet layer for many years
and also for Russell Jensen as a line painter.
He is survived by brothers,Rulon (Gaye) Despain, Venice ; Richard (Karen) Despain,Magna; children, Teresa Chapman, Salt Lake City; Teri (Robert) Cosper, Safford, Ariz.; Geoffrey (Jennifer) Despain, Thatcher, Ariz.; Kellie Despain and Patricia (Andre) Beaudet, both Sierra Vista,
Ariz.; and Lisa Featherstone, Salt Lake City; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and son Kim.
Graveside services and interment were scheduled for Tuesday, Nov 22, at 2 p.m. in the Utah Veterans Memorial Park, with military rites accorded by the Utah Honor Guard.
