Desiderio Medina, 85, died in Denver on Friday. Funeral mass was held Wednesday morning at Holy Name of Mary Church.
He was born Feb. 5, 1886 at Costilla, New Mexico, the son of Onofre and Josephita Medina. He moved to Del Norte as a lad of 12.
He and Miss Gabriela Chacon were married in Del Norte and she died in 1955. The family lived at Agua Ramon for many years where he farmed and ran stock.
Mr. Medina moved to Denver sixteen years ago to live with his daughter.
He is survived by three sons and five daughters, Manuel S.; Onofre; Delmer; Aurora; Ruefugio; Cornelia; Margie; and Monica; 35 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren; and brother, Juan of Ogden, Utah. Two sons and two daughters are deceased.
