Obituary

Mr. Joseph E. Hoyle of Gaithersburg, Maryland, died peacefully Monday, September 25, 2006, at Homewood at Crumland Farms, Frederick, Maryland. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, June and two sisters, Lillian Israel and Frances Lyddane.

Born on November 27, 1919, he was the son of the late Elmer and Alda Hoyle. Mr. Hoyle was a World War II veteran, serving in the 10th Armored Division in France, Luxembourg and Germany and received the Purple Heart. He was employed for 41 years at Suburban Propane. Following his retirement, he was a Red Cross volunteer for more than 15 years. He and his wife were active parishioners of St. Martin's Catholic Church in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

Surviving are the children, Sandra Stevens and husband Ron of Frostburg, Michael Hoyle and wife Brenda of Frederick, Barry Hoyle and wife Marisa of Hagerstown and Garry Hoyle and wife Betty of Walkersville. He was the much loved grandfather of 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Charlotte Hoyle of Gaithersburg and Gene Hoyle of Monrovia.

Friends and family will be received at Muriel H. Barber Funeral Home, 21525 Laytonsville Rd., Laytonsville, MD 20882, Wednesday, September 27, 2006, from 6 to 8 p.m., followed by an 8 p.m. memorial service presented by the American Legion. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 28, 2006, at St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church in Walkersville.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Red Cross.
