U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Massey’s Business College Georgia, in 1897 and then engaged in banking, agricultural and mercantile pursuits in Norway, South Carolina. Entering politics was a member of the South Carolina State House of Representatives, (1917-20). In 1921, he was elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-seventh Congress and to the next eleven succeeding Congresses, serving until his death at age 69.
